Maintenance of Saw Blades

2024-09-18
  • Storage: If the saw blade is not used immediately, it should be laid flat or hung by the center hole. Do not stack other items on top of the saw blade or step on it. Ensure the blade is kept dry and protected from rust.

  • Sharpening: When the saw blade becomes dull or the cutting surface becomes rough, it must be promptly re-sharpened. The sharpening process should not alter the original angle or disturb the dynamic balance of the blade.

  • Inner Diameter Correction & Positioning Hole Processing: Modifications like inner diameter correction or processing of positioning holes must be done by the manufacturer. Improper processing can affect the performance and may pose safety risks. Enlarging the hole should not exceed 20mm from the original diameter to avoid imbalance in stress.

  • Selection of Diamond Grinding Wheels:

    1. Resin Bonded Diamond Wheels: These have weak bonding strength, making them self-sharpening, less prone to clogging, with high grinding efficiency, low grinding force, and low temperature. However, they are less wear-resistant, with high tool consumption, and not suitable for heavy-load grinding.

    2. Ceramic Bonded Diamond Wheels: These offer better wear resistance and bonding strength compared to resin-bonded wheels. They are sharp, have high grinding efficiency, resist heat buildup and clogging, expand less under heat, and are easy to control for precision. The drawbacks are rougher grinding surfaces and higher costs.

    3. Metal Bonded Diamond Wheels: These have high bonding strength, good wear resistance, low wear, long lifespan, low grinding costs, and can withstand heavier loads. However, they have poor sharpness and are prone to clogging.

    4. Grinding Wheel Grit Size: The grit size affects clogging and cutting depth. Coarse grit wheels cut deeper, but the cutting edge wears more quickly, while finer grit wheels are prone to clogging.

    5. Wheel Hardness: Harder wheels have a higher thermal conductivity, which is unfavorable for heat dissipation but beneficial for improving processing precision and durability.

    6. Wheel Concentration: This is an important characteristic that greatly affects grinding efficiency and cost. Low concentration reduces efficiency, while higher concentration increases the risk of grain loss, but the best performance is achieved within a specific concentration range.
